A companion to the crown block
What Is a Hat Plate?
A hat plate is a shaped base form that supports work around the lower crown and brim transition. Its outline follows the selected hat size and head shape, helping the maker maintain a consistent foundation while working the material.
Herald Hats generates each plate from the same sizing system used for the blocks. Select the circumference and head profile, preview the result, and receive the matching STL.

Common questions
About Hat Plates
Does the plate include a crown block?
No. Hat plates and crown blocks are separate products. Choose each one independently using the same intended size and head shape.
Do I select a crown height or block model?
No. Hat plates use only the selected size and head shape; Model 51, Model 52, and crown height apply to hat blocks.
What do the triangular markings mean?
The four recessed guides identify front, back, left, and right, making it easier to keep the plate correctly oriented during use.
Which plans include plate downloads?
Hat plate downloads are available with Craftsman and Master Builder. Starter accounts can preview the available products but cannot download plate files.
